Sooner or later every demo user burns through the virtual $10,000. The good news is that it costs nothing to start again. This guide covers how to refill the Quotex demo balance, what to do when the option is not where you expect it, and how to use resets as a measuring tool rather than a way to erase mistakes.
How to reset the Quotex demo balance
- Log in and make sure the demo balance is the active one. The balance display at the top of the trading screen shows which one you are on.
- Click the balance display to open the account menu.
- Look for the option to top up or refill the demo balance and confirm it.
- Check that the balance now shows the starting amount before you trade again.
Menu names and positions change between platform versions and between the browser and the app, so look for the demo balance option rather than a specific button label. If you are not logged in yet, start with our login guide.
If you cannot find the reset option
- Confirm the demo balance, not the live one, is selected. A refill option does not apply to a live balance.
- Refresh the page, try a private browser window, or update the app.
- Try the other platform version. Sometimes the option is easier to find on the browser than in the app, or the other way round.
- Contact Quotex support from inside the platform and ask for a demo balance reset. Do not use links sent to you by strangers.
What a reset does and does not do
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Does it cost money? | No, the demo is free |
| Does it touch my live balance? | No, the two balances are separate |
| Do demo wins become withdrawable? | No, demo funds are virtual |
| Does it change how the platform behaves? | No, only the practice balance changes |
Use resets as a measuring tool
Resetting after every bad trade teaches nothing, because you never see the cost of your mistakes. A better habit is to treat each reset as the start of a numbered test period.
- Reset the balance and write down the starting number and the date.
- Decide your trade size in advance. If you would deposit $50, practise with $1 to $2 per trade.
- Trade two or three assets only, and note each trade: asset, direction, expiry, amount and reason.
- After at least 50 trades, work out your win rate and compare it with the break-even rate for the payouts you traded.
- Only then reset and change one thing, such as the asset or the expiry, so you can see what made the difference.
The break-even rate is 100 divided by (100 plus the payout percentage), times 100. At an 80% payout you need to win about 55.6% of trades just to break even, and at 90% about 52.6%. The step-by-step trading guide explains this in detail.
Mistakes to avoid
- Resetting every time the balance drops, which hides your real results.
- Trading far bigger sizes than you would use with real money.
- Judging a strategy after ten trades. That is far too few to mean anything.
- Treating a good demo streak as proof of skill. Read how demo and live results differ in our demo vs real account comparison.
